Only one person was recorded in my in-person conversation — how do I capture both sides?

This usually happens when your phone's microphone is pointing at one speaker and too far from the other. For a face-to-face conversation, place your phone flat on the table between both people, roughly equidistant, with nothing covering the mic. If one person is quieter or farther away, angle the bottom edge of the phone (where the mic sits) toward them. Recording in a quiet room and keeping the phone within arm's reach of everyone makes a big difference — the clearer both voices are, the better the transcription and speaker labels turn out.
